NY Style

On my way to the post office this morning, I saw this awesome awning on Atlantic Avenue. My favorite part is the small illustration of a croissant with the words, "NY Croissant." What, I wonder, is a New York croissant. Is this versus a French croissant? The store also sells phone cards. Which is convenient — you can call Paris, while eating a NY Croissant.

The weather this morning, when I took this picture, was sublime. Not too hot, not too cold. And not a cloud in the sky. Which is welcome relief after like 50 days of rain. Of course, it has begun to rain again, as I post this.

Stuffed, White Man

I met my friend Lara for lunch (Bottino — we both had the gazpacho and the roasted beets salad) and she gave me this very cute stuffed animal/man/grain of rice/gnocchi, who happens to moonlight as a bath scrubby! In fact, his backside is made of silk mesh, to exfoliate dry skin. This is thoughtful design at its best.

Christmas in June

This morning, I decided that a good cure for morning crabbiness would be to listen to the "Linus and Lucy" song from the A Charlie Brown Christmas cd, that I conveniently happen to have at work. I have put it on repeat in iTunes, and plan on listening to it until my mood has cleared. It is working. I feel good, and it is only the second repeat of the song. By the fifth time, I might feel postively gleeful. Or at least, positive. (I am going to see if I can upload the song to this post.)

Feeling succulent

I bought the bigger of the two jade plants at Whole Foods about two months ago, and it has grown so much since then. I keep looking over at it throughout the day, trying to see if I can catch it growing, because I swear it is taller every day when I come into work. Meanwhile, its pal, Small Jade Plant, has not grown a millimeter in the sixth months since I bought it. I am debating whether to re-pot Big Jade Plant in a nicer pot — something ceramic. The plastic, faux terra cotta pot on the plastic-plate-from-the-staff-kitchen really is ugly, but I have bad luck when I change things. I am worried that if I re-pot it, Big Jade Plant will die. Sometime status quo is the best route. The plant is happy, so for now I am stuck looking at the $12.99 price tag on the plasic pot.
