Vitamin Water 10

Yeah, well I totally bought into the whole 10 calorie Vitamin Water thing. I can't help it. I know it's a gimmick, and all bad for the world because I should only drink water cause it is free and comes out of my tap and its not packaged in plastic…but water tastes so boring. And since I find it usually too cold and banal tasting, I never drink it. So I am chronically dehydrated. Perhaps I was a cactus in my previous life, which would explain a great deal, actually.

So, despite schlepping a BPA-free water bottle around with me everywhere, I also tend to have at least one, if not two, bottles of Vitamin Water 10 with me, as well. Preferably in the XXX flavor, but I am not all that picky. Which is why I am currently drinking a flavor the color of urine. I mean, it is only ten calories, thanks to Truvia, which is the fancy brand name for stevia. Which I try to convince myself that it is actually not as bad for me as if I were drinking 40oz of a beverage that causes lab rats to get cancer, so it is sort of natural, right?

I heart Caterpillars

Tonight, Joel brought me home a surprise: a white furry caterpillar with red little horns that he found living on top of the car. We went through the recycle bin to find a suitable home — which was an empty Vitamin Water bottle — and dumped him in, along with two strawberry leaves to munch on for snack, and some left over 10 calorie XXX flavored water for liquid sustenance. The caterpillar's little red horns were really quite perky and alert, and he had the most amazingly sticky feet, requiring some serious tapping to get him to let go of the cardboard box and fall into the bottle. Joel demonstrated this stickiness by thumping out a staccato beat on the box and the caterpillar stubbornly held on fast, despite the seismic vibrations.

Update:
This morning, I found the caterpillar dead with his feet up in the air, sadly. Not sure if he did reacted poorly with low cal beverage but it is made with Stevia, which is technically natural.

Knitted Cactus

I have not blogged in awhile, due to general laziness and an overwhelming sense of vague annoyance with the fact that I was felt like I was spending a considerable of my time awake, typing sentences and sentences of...stuff. And then the nagging disappointment of letting myself down for not keeping up with my posts, sort of shamed me into shunning my blog for awhile, like that presentation you don't want to acknowledge is due tomorrow at 9am, which you have not yet started.

Anyway.

That being said, this is my first post in awhile, and I am happy to say that it is about knitted cacti. And while this is not my own knitted cactus, or ok, tenchically, it's a crocheted cactus, it still brings me great pleasure. So much so that I plan on crocheting a whole series of these little guys and maybe creating a desert scape indoors with them. Or not. If you are so inspired to create your own desert scape out of crocheted cacti, here is the link.
